The main multidisciplinary meeting around 5G technology held in Spain will take place at Fibes from May 9 to 13, with a first face-to-face meeting.
Under the slogan “Seville, where the leaders of 5G meet”, Fibes, Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos will host the 5G Forum 2022, the main event for the debate on these technologies at a national level.
After celebrating its 2018 and 2019 editions in Malaga, and two years of celebration in online format, the meeting arrives in Seville in 2022, extending its days to a total of five days of event, from May 9 to 13, being the first of them face-to-face and the rest virtual. The meeting takes the debate on 5G technology to the Andalusian capital, bringing together projects, companies and experts who will reflect at Fibes on the latest developments and advances in the sector.
The inauguration will be presided over by the Mayor of Seville, Antonio Muñoz, together with the General Director of Telecommunications and Organization of Communication Services at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Arturo Azcorra, a prestigious Spanish scientist, professor and Telecommunications engineer, recognized as the pioneer of Internet research and Network Science in Spain, who in 2020 received the European Redinald Fessenden award, granted by the ACM-MSWIN International Conference for his contribution to the core of 5G networks.
After the success of the last edition, which brought together more than 750 executives from 281 companies and 4,195 virtual attendees, this edition presents not only a hybrid format, but also a complementary informal and cultural networking program for the guests. The objective of the Seville City Council is, in addition to referencing Seville as the technological capital of Southern Europe, that the participants in the 5GF22 have an immersive and first-hand experience in the city.
The international relevance that the 5G Forum has achieved in its four previous editions is evident by the participation of professionals from companies from 18 countries, including executive profiles such as CEO, CIO, CTO and directors of business innovation, product, strategy, marketing, as well as consultants and researchers.
The virtual sessions, held on the Medina Media Events platform, will be available this year to accredited visitors to be viewed on demand. In addition, the platform offers the possibility for each attendee to have their own agenda for meetings with other companies, with other participants or with the speakers, who will also offer question and answer sessions during the event. In the 2021 edition of the 5G Forum, the Medina Media Events platform received 4,195 visitors from 43 countries, with 3,152 visitors from Spain standing out.
On the other hand, the 2021 edition managed to attract a total of 28 sponsors, including large multinationals from the United States, China and Europe, such as Telefónica, Ericsson, Cellnex, Mavenir, Qualcomm, Minsait, Cisco, 5Genesis, Rohde & Schwarz, Keysight, Huawei, ZTE, Hispasat, Nearby, Televes, Team Up 5G, Gamma, Impulsa Vision RTVE, Nokia, Axión, Dekra, Vantage Towers, Netnumber and the National 5G Observatory, among others.
Seville has been one of the first Spanish cities to offer a suitable framework for the development of 5G technology. On the one hand, the pilot project launched at PCT Cartuja has involved a key deployment of this disruptive technology in a real environment.
Likewise, the implementation of new projects linked to 5G in other strategic spaces, such as the Real Alcázar or Fibes itself, not only allow the promotion of 5G and its wide spectrum of applications, but also improve the quality of the experience that visitors and residents obtain in the city.
In this sense, the organization of the 5G Forum abounds in the positioning of Seville as a Smart and Sustainable Tourist Destination, a shared city model that has in Fibes a think tank for development from innovation and for the promotion of new networks and technologies such as those applied in the Smart Tourism Office and its Sustainable Urban Tourism Laboratory, whose tourism intelligence and telecommunications systems measure the impact of tourism in the city to offer companies a secure context for decision-making, the search for solutions and tourism entrepreneurship.
The 5G Forum is a privileged opportunity to publicize the successes of each initiative, each company, each university, each project and each city, in an event of international reference and with a first-class showcase. It is promoted by Sevilla City Office and Fibes. It also has the support of Telefónica, Orange, American Tower, Viavi Solutions, Ericsson, Capgemini Engineering, Qualcomm, Mavenir, Rohde & Schwarz, Keysight Technologies, Netmetrix-Spirent, Huawei, ZTE, Malaga City Council, Digital Content Pole, Fycma , National 5G Observatory, Cellnex, Advantech, Ateme, TOTEM, Dekra, Televes, Hispasat, Nokia, JVC, Toshiba, Axión, Impulsa Vision RTVE and the Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities of the Andalusian Government.
