The 5G Forum, “Where 5G leaders meet”, is finalizing its seventh edition, which will be held at the Nissan Cartuja Auditorium in Seville from May 6 to 10 in a hybrid format, with two face-to-face sessions, Monday May 6 and Tuesday May 7, and three virtual sessions, May 8, 9 and 10.

This new edition will be attended by Narcís Cardona, Director of iTEAM and Vice President of One6G Association, who will explain how Artificial Intelligence will be part of many of the elements of the future 6G network, making it a more efficient and secure network, and how it will be progressively implemented -it is already being implemented- in current commercial networks.

6G network will change the concept of connectivity

Just as today we conceive of roads, railways, maritime corridors or airports, “communications networks have been consolidated as one more element of the infrastructure of our civilization,” says Cardona, who warns that, although with some delay compared to expectations, “5G is being implemented in the industry as planned. More and more devices are connected to each other and to “the Net”, which provides great efficiency in the management of society as we know it.

There is still time to implement 6G, but everything is aimed at having an increasingly dense and complex “Network” in which it will be “more complicated to guarantee ubiquitous connectivity and security, fast interaction and privacy, or high speed and low energy consumption at the same time”, says Cardona, for whom one of the solutions that are being consolidated for the future generation of mobile networks is “the reduction of the amount of data to be transmitted between different points of the network, changing the concept of connectivity“.

Towards a network of intelligent devices

“Mobile networks must evolve towards a structure where the elements are increasingly intelligent, in the sense of making them capable of managing and making decisions about their own operation”, says Narcís Cardona, who at the same time points to Artificial Intelligence as the basis of the structure that will allow “greater autonomy and efficiency in very complex networks”.

“If this structure in which AI is ‘natively’ present in all network elements takes hold, 6G will be a network that we can call intelligent, or, better yet, a network of intelligent devices,” explains the iTEAM director.

The ‘5G Forum’ has established itself as a reference forum in the technology sector, as it is a unique showcase with a multidisciplinary vocation to publicize each year the use cases and success stories of operators, companies, universities and institutions.

All the presentations of this and previous editions can be viewed through ‘The Observatory’, the digital platform of Medina Media Events, where all the interventions will be available 24/365 for on-demand consumption, like Netflix, but free of charge.

The seventh edition of ‘5G Forum’ is organized by Medina Media Events and is supported by MasOrange, Telefónica, Red Hat, Axión, the University of Málaga (UMA), OFG, Netmetrix, Huawei, ZTE, Mavenir, Vicomtech, Wavecontrol, Gradiant, Viavi Solutions, Rohde & Schwarz, Nokia, AI Funded, Opossum, Hispasat, Gsertel and Gamma Solutions, among others.
