The eighth edition of the 5G Forum is getting ready to turn Seville into the capital of 5G and 6G technology from 12 to 16 May. The 2025 edition will start with a great novelty, since, in addition to the usual Monday and Tuesday sessions, a third day will be added on Wednesday 14 at the Cartuja Auditorium -managed by Yventu-. Subsequently, in online format, two virtual sessions will be held on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th.
The ‘Cyber Day’, a day dedicated entirely to cybersecurity, will be added to the top-level agenda of this forum, already consolidated as one of the most important in Spain and Europe on 5G technology.
Once again, this event will be a meeting point for multinationals from different continents, as well as the main operators operating in Spain (Orange, Telefónica, Digi and Vodafone). But the 2025 edition will be marked by the exploration of new horizons such as cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence, among others.
5G Security Operations Centre
The Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service will present the SOC 5G, the new 5G Security Operations Centre of reference, pioneer worldwide, created in the National Security Scheme for 5G networks and services and developed by the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures.
This public 5G Security Operations Centre was created with the aim of contributing to and supporting the exercise of the powers assigned to the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service. Among other functions, it provides operational support to obligated parties in activities related to the prevention, protection, detection and response to threats, incidents and cyber-attacks on 5G systems, networks and services, as well as their certification and standardisation.
Spain has become a pioneer in cybersecurity and the creation of the 5G SOC is proof of this. With its physical construction starting in early 2024, it is expected that by July 2025 the 5G SOC Advanced Services will be in place. “My dream is to have the entire national cybersecurity ecosystem, together with the obligated parties, operators, suppliers, corporate users and virtual operators, around the SOC 5G, creating a system of trust and mutual loyalty, where we help each other for the good of our country,” said Andrés Ruiz, deputy director general of Telecommunications Integrity at the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures, a few months ago.
A high-level agenda
Once again, the 5G Forum will once again feature a top-level agenda, which will be joined on this third day dedicated to cybersecurity by Juan Miguel Pulpillo, an expert from the Centre for Industrial Cybersecurity (CCI); Joel Zaragoza, technical director at Netmetrix; and María José Escalona, professor of Computer Languages and Systems at the University of Seville, among others.
The 5G Forum has become a benchmark event in the technology sector. A unique showcase with a multidisciplinary vocation to present the use cases and success stories of operators, companies, universities and institutions every year. In its seventh edition, held in 2024, it set a record by bringing together the largest number of professionals and companies in its history: nearly 900 professionals (890) from 320 companies, of which 580 attended in person at the Cartuja Auditorium and 310 virtually.
All the presentations will be available for on-demand viewing through ‘El Observatorio’, the digital platform of Medina Media Events, where each conference will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, free of charge.
The eighth edition of the 5G Forum is organised by Medina Media Events and is supported by Orange, Telefónica, DIGI, Netmetrix, Huawei, ZTE, Vicomtech, Gradiant, i2cat, 6G Diferents, Open Nebula, Ayscom, Axiom, Wavecontrol, Gamma, Mavenir, Teltronic, Datatronics, Oracle, University of Málaga, Nokia, Rohde & Schwarz, Hispasat, Circet, Iplus F, Dihbu, Gertel, Kenmei, AIFunded, Opossum and AEVAC, among others.
