CHINA AND THE UNITED STATES ALSO MEET AT THE 5G FORUM 24

30/04/2024
  • The seventh edition of the 5G Forum will have Asian representation, with the Chinese multinationals Huawei, with Fernando de la Cruz and José Capote; and ZTE, with Víctor Pascual.

  • The United States will be represented by four multinationals of international prestige: Red Hat with Ignacio González, Mavenir with Sergio García, Viavi Solutions with Luisa Bastero and Tesla.

  • With this representation, multinationals, companies and entities from three continents will participate in the 5G Forum 24: Europe, North America and Asia.

The start of the seventh edition of the 5G Forum, “Where the leaders of 5G meet”, which in this 2024 will be held at the Nissan Cartuja Auditorium in Seville from May 6 to 10 in hybrid format, with two face-to-face days, May 6 and 7, and three virtual days, May 8, 9 and 10. The event will be attended by representatives from North American and Asian multinationals such as Viavi Solutions, Mavenir, Red Hat and Tesla from the United States, and Huawei and ZTE from Asia.

The Asian giants Huawei and ZTE

From Asia, the Chinese multinational Huawei, represented by Fernando de la Cruz, Head of Wireless Solutions at Huawei Spain, and José Capote, Cyber Security and Privacy Officer (CSPO) at Huawei Spain, will land at the 5G Forum 24 to review the latest version of the GSMA’s cybersecurity knowledge base (MCKB), a reference framework for ensuring security in mobile networks. They will also explain how the entire ecosystem of manufacturers, operators and application providers can collaborate to ensure levels of security and resilience commensurate with the level of risk of each asset in 5G networks and services.

For his part, Victor Pascual, CTO in Spain and Portugal of the Chinese multinational ZTE, will explore with attendees the new horizons with 5G Advanced. Pascual has led the introduction of new technologies such as LTE, 5G, GPON, XGSPON, SDN, Virtualization, Cloud, AI and Cybersecurity throughout his professional career during which he has deployed more than 40,000 radio, central and fixed sites.

In recent years at ZTE, in addition to leading the business in Spain and Portugal, Victor Pascual has been in charge of evangelizing the latest technologies and solutions throughout Europe and Latin America from their initial stages to their maturation into new business models, which has helped his clients to increase their revenues and improve their bottom line.

Top North American multinationals at the 5G Forum 24

The United States will have an important roster of multinationals participating in the 5G Forum 24. A total of four giants will present their latest advances in 5G technology: Red Hat, Mavenir, Viavi Solutions and Tesla.

Ignacio González, Head of Telco Mobile Networks Business Development EMEA at Red Hat, will analyze the power of Cloud platforms for Telcos. In this context, the head of the Connecticut-based multinational will present the various ways in which “the cloud world is converging with the telecommunications industry”, driven by the growing demand for connectivity, storage and digital services.

From Kubernetes to AI, and from the data center to the edge, “a Telco Cloud platform is a critical asset for any telecom industry to take full advantage of 5G services,” says Gonzalez, for whom cloud platforms offer a number of advantages and capabilities that are especially relevant and powerful for the telecom industry.

Sergio Garcia, Open RAN Presales Manager for Southern Europe, Caribbean and Latin America at Mavenir, will talk about the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning applied to Open RAN-based networks. As an expert in Radio Access Networks (RAN), he will also present the use cases of NIaaS (Network Intelligence as a Service), a holistic platform based on native AI oriented to telecommunications networks, which is hosted within Mavenir’s RIC, helping mobile network operators to reduce their operational and infrastructure costs, while improving the quality of their network and increasing their business agility.

For her part, Luisa Bastero, Sales Manager at Viavi Solutions, will address some of the issues that most concern the telecommunications sector, such as quality, security and interoperability, not only in 5G networks, but also in what is to come with the future 6G. The sales manager of the Arizona-based multinational says that “with the migration of networks to the Cloud, complexity increases, demanding greater quality and interoperability measures”. This is where Viavi comes into play, as it offers all kinds of solutions to accompany the customer on this path with clear quality criteria.

Tesla, the US company owned by Elon Musk, will also be present at the 5G Forum 24. Specifically, in the exclusive demo area of the event, on Monday May 6 and Tuesday May 7, attendees will be able to enjoy several smart cars that the company will be exhibiting, as well as a driving experience with them. This automotive giant is headquartered in Texas and has more than 70,000 employees around the world.

The 5G Forum has established itself as a reference forum in the technology sector, as it is a unique showcase with a multidisciplinary vocation to publicize each year the use cases and success stories of operators, companies, universities and institutions.

All the presentations of this and previous editions can be viewed through ‘The Observatory’, the digital platform of Medina Media Events, where all the interventions will be available 24/365 for on-demand consumption, like Netflix, but free of charge.

The seventh edition of the 5G Forum, to be held at the NISSAN Cartuja Auditorium in Seville, is organized by Medina Media Events and is supported by MASORANGE, Telefónica, Red Hat, Netmetrix, Huawei, ZTE, Mavenir, OFG, Vicomtech, Wavecontrol, Axión, the University of Málaga (UMA), Viavi Solutions, Nokia, Rohde & Schwarz, Gradiant, Hispasat, Gsertel, AI Funded, Opossum and Gamma Solutions, among others.
